Chat with Pidgin:
Pidgin is a free, open-source multi-protocol Instant Messaging client that allows you to use all of your IM accounts at once – AIM, IRC, MSN, ICQ, GoogleTalk, and others. And it also supports Bonjour – which means you and your friends can easily discover and chat with each other through our virtual social network. In other words, you can consolidate all your chat clients into one and easily chat with your Facebook friends.
You need to install Pidgin – just go to their website here and follow its instructions. Windows users need also install Bonjour for Windows, which is free – follow this link to install. Once installed, start Pidgin and configure a Bonjour account with the name you’d like your buddies to see by opening the “manage accounts” window and configuring a Bonjour account:
Pidgin will keep checking if your friends are online/away/busy and update their status in their buddy window automatically
